Origin: Dried and powdered root of sarsaparilla or smilax
Overview: Sarsaparilla root powder is derived from the roots of sarsaparilla or smilax, tropical plants native to South America, Jamaican, the Caribbean, Mexico, Honduras, and the West Indies.
The roots have a long history of being a medicinal herb. Traditionally, it was used joint problems like arthritis, and for healing skin problems like psoriasis, eczema, and dermatitis. It was thought that the root can be used to treat leprosy as well.
Common Dosage: 0.3 to 2 grams per day
