Overview: Pomegranate extract is a compound derived from pomegranates. It contains phytochemicals such as polyphenols, including the hydrolyzable tannins called ellagitannins formed when ellagic acid and gallic acid binds with a carbohydrate to form pomegranate ellagitannins, also known as punicalagins. It also contains anthocyanins such as delphinidin, cyanidin, and pelargonidin glycosides. Ir is also a rich source of Punicalagins and Punicic acid.
