Overview: Goldenrod or Solidago is a weed native to North America and Mexico that is often used for improving urinary health and reducing inflammation. Its flowers and leaves are often used to make tea and dietary supplements.
It contains plant compounds such as saponins as well as flavonoids like quercetin and kaempferol. These give the plant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory functions.
Common Dosage: The dosage for goldenrod depends on the form it’s being taken. You can drink it as a tea using 3 to 4 grams of dried goldenrod steeped for 15 minutes in a cup of boiled water. This preparation can be taken up to 4 times daily.
Liquid extracts are usually taken in 0.5 to 2 ml doses up to 3 times per day. Meanwhile, dry extracts can be taken in 350 to 450 mg doses up to 3 times per day.
