Overview: Glycyrrhizin Radix (Licorice Root) is a plant which is mostly used as flavoring in foods, beverages, and tobacco. The roots are often used to make medicine. Licorice Root is used for various treatments within the digestive system including stomach ulcers, heartburn, colic, and ongoing inflammation in the lining of the stomach. The chemicals contained in licorice are thought to decrease swelling, thin mucus secretions, decrease cough, and increase the chemicals in our body that heal ulcers.
